In case you haven’t noticed its allergy season once again and this season seems to be a rough one for the many people I have seen. Sailing through allergy season is unusual for me, normally this time of year would have me using the standard arsenal of over the counter drugs, nasal sprays & antihistamines. When those failed I would be forced to visit my doctor for an occasional steroid shot or worse; a prescription of antibiotics for the dreaded sinus infection.
However to my surprise over the past few years I have been fortunate to skate by during the peak of the season with taking a few Benadryl.
I attribute this to a protocol that I have developed. While it is a bit unusual and a little expensive (less than a doctor’s visit), it seems to working well for me. It starts with mushroom supplements. The first is a combination mushroom supplement that is high in Reishi and the second is a 500 mg AHCC supplement. AHCC was developed in Japan about 20 years ago and is a patented, uniquely cultivated and fermented mushroom formula. I rotate these two supplements and during the height of the season take one in the morning and one in the evening. The next component of my formula is Turkish black seed oil which is best done taking a spoonful orally. If you decide to try it, be sure to have a chaser nearby (juice or tea). Like high polyphenol olive oil, black seed oil has a bite at the end. Black seed oil has shown to be one of the most potent anti-microbial and anti-fungal agents. For me I find it also works well as an antihistamine and decongestant.
A couple of things I use year round for different reasons are also great during allergy season; Blueberries and Brazilian green propolis. The propolis, from the Brazilian rain forest is anti-fungal, anti-microbial, anti-viral and anti- inflammatory. This is quite a combination and both these supplements have a lot more going for them. As always I am just an avenue for sharing information so I recommend you consult your healthcare professional before using anything I mentioned in my protocol. You must be your own advocate doing your own study and cross reference and of course use LOGIC no matter what advice or suggestions you get from anywhere. It is your health and you must be in charge.
